This project develops Safety by Design principles for integrating behavioral science into AI products and systems, with particular attention to how design choices shape human trust, decision-making, autonomy, and behavior.
Research Approach
The project combines behavioral science, Trust & Safety, and human-centered AI to examine how product and system design can influence human trust, decision-making, and behavior.
The research translates these insights into practical design principles for reducing manipulation, harmful engagement, over-reliance, addictive interaction patterns, and other behavioral risks while supporting transparency, appropriate trust, user autonomy, and digital well-being.
Expected Inpact
The project provides technology companies and product teams with practical frameworks for integrating behavioral safety into AI development. The goal is to help organizations build AI systems that support appropriate trust, preserve user autonomy, and reduce behavioral risks through intentional design choices.
